Why is the Cure Cancer Project needed?

The cure of cancer is like other great engineering challenges.

Great engineering feats are based on:

  • A clear and proper goal
  • An understanding of the scientific principles
  • A rational, scientific plan
  • A focused, well-coordinated organization

We need a similar engineering effort to cure cancer.

No organization is currently developing a specific cure for cancer.

  • Over 7 million people die each year from cancer.
  • The goal of most cancer research is chronic control.
  • Current approaches cannot consistently cure or control cancer
  • Current organizations are not addressing the fundamental problem: tumor cell evolution.

A cure must be affordable to cancer patients.

  • Pharmaceutical companies are working on hundreds of cancer drugs. However, the cure of cancer is a very different problem from making a drug. No single drug will ever be able to cure or control cancer.
  • New anticancer drugs cost as much as $100,000 per year of treatment.
  • This cost will bankrupt patients and our health care system.
  • The high cost is "justified" by the high risk of cancer drug development.
  • The financial risks of the Cure Cancer Project will be taken by charitable donors and the financial benefits will go to society.
